Abstract
High-energy particle beams with spin polarization are of importance for several areas of physics, like deep-inelastic scattering or nuclear fusion, and have been investigated extensively in the context of plasma-based accelerators [1]. A recent proof-of-principle experiment at the PHELIX laser by Zheng et al. [2] has shown that the acceleration of polarized ions from laser-plasma interaction is indeed feasible.
The ion acceleration schemes that can be utilized in the context of laser-plasma interaction are, however, limited due to restrictions in the target density [3]. In this talk, we present 3D-PIC simulations investigating the acceleration of polarized 3He ions using Laguerre-Gaussian laser pulses. This approach offers a potential pathway to high-energy, high-polarization ion beams.
